Snow days

Ughh...snow...Many of you might be thinking that this is an odd combination of words. Yes, on the 1st day of no school I would have to. Alas, this is the 5th day we are out of school and I am bored.... I have made 3 scarves, started on the 4th, watched boo-coodles of TV, and slept, and ate...that has consisted of my life...
But it hasn't all been terrible, on Wednesday, I had a bright and shining moment to have a photo shoot...this feeling was no doubt inspired by my friend Lindsey...and heres the results...

Scripture Memory

"Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23

This verse is exactly what I've been needing to hear lately, it's funny how God works like that. Recently I've become so consumed by all the pressure life has been putting on me: school, family, beauty, friends, clothes...you name it. I've really been struggling with how to find God in all of that. This verse is the reminder I needed to show me that God's so much bigger than all of my stress and problems, I just need to rely on His love.

The twenty-first time

I was just listening to this song with my little brother and thinking about some things. Around this time of the year everyone jumps on board with all sorts of charity projects, helping people out, all kinds of great things. These things really are great, God has called us to help the poor, to sacrifice of ourselves and give to others. But as I was thinking about things I realized that a lot of times I use these "good deeds" "battles against poverty", to distract from the battle going on within myself. I can do all these things for other people and feel all good about myself, but I'm still lacking. My heart isn't in the right place... So I wonder, do I this other stuff to pull the focus away from the problems going on inside myself? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying any acts of charity are bad at all, but we should all be careful to make sure were giving attention to whatever problems we have in our own life, in order to better help others. Listen to this song, and ask yourself this question, why do we ignore that person in need for 21 times?

Leslie de la Trinidad's shopping day!!

Well my high school has always been pretty cool, but this is probably the coolest thing we've ever done... Here's my preamble...For the past few weeks each grade was responsible for getting about 10 or 12 team leaders. Those team leaders recruited 4 other people. Each person in a group had to give 20 for a total of $100. There are 52 second graders who are underprivileged. The idea was that each team would get a child and take them to Walmart to go shopping for themselves and their families. They get $40 for themselves and $60 for their families...Preamble accomplished.

Well today was the day, we got together, someone said there was about 400 of us, and walked up to the primary school to get our child. We had just found out what our child's name was that morning, and our name-tag said "Team Leslie de la Trinidad"...who has a name like that?? ***side note, Trinidad is a country in the Caribbean and its original name meant "Land of the hummingbirds" this is what I found out when I Googled Trinidad in order to better understand our future little shopper***

My group of Kate, Sutton, Abdul for a little cultural flavor, and Gunnar anxiously awatied the meeting of our "little shopper". **please note that earlier the boys had been teasing Kate and I and saying that we were going to get the kid who was sick and didn't come to school, and were also saying that they were going to take the $100 and just buy stuff for themselves.**

Well we were greeted with a shy smile from this precious little girl...

and got to go and pick out all sorts of gifts for her 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and her mom and dad.

and wrap them up...

and decorate cookies!

and all around us the same thing was going on (but not exactly the same because their kids were definitely not as awesome as ours)!

We ended up with a huge bag of gifts wrapped (questionably)... and ready to go!

It was obviously pretty awesome

--Then you're in the wrong species, love. Be a duck.

6.All in the valley of Death   Rode the six hundred. 'Forward, the Light Brigade!' Was there a man dismay'd? Not tho' the soldiers knew   Some one had blunder'd:

  Songs-
6."-----! What a wonderful phrase

------! Ain't no passing craze
It means no worries for the rest of your days
It's our problem-free philosophy
-----!!

7.My, oh, my

Look at the boy too shy
He ain't gonna kiss the girl
Sha-la-la-la-la-la
Ain't that sad
Ain 't it shame, too bad
You gonna miss the girl

Now's your moment
Floating in a blue lagoon
Boy, you better do it soon
No time will be better
She don't say a word
And she won't say a word
Until you kiss the girl

Sha-la-la-la-la-la
Don't be scared
You got the mood prepared
Go on and kiss the girl
Sha-la-la-la-la-la
Don 't stop now
Don't try to hide it how
You wanna kiss the girl
Sha-la-la-la-la-la
Float along
Listen to the song
The song say kiss the girl
Sha-la-la-la-la-la
Music play
Do what the music say
You wanna kiss the girl

8. Look at this stuff

Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has everything?
Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Looking around here you think
Sure, she's got everything
I've got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
You want thingamabobs?
I've got twenty!
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more
I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see them dancin'
Walking around on those - what do you call 'em?
Oh - feet!
Flippin' your fins, you don't get too far
Legs are required for jumping, dancing
Strolling along down a - what's that word again?
Street...

9.I got you, i got you on my mind

And it's time to make you see (what i want)
So i'll just make this a little more obvious
Cuz i get what i want, and i want you to get with me!

10.Good girl

I'm a such a bad boy
You used to be a good girl
But then you met a bad boy
Yeah
You know I've got to catch my
I've got to catch my breath
I've got to, got to, got to catch my breath
I've got to, got to, got to catch my breath
I've got to, got to, got to catch my breath

WARRRR EAGGGLLEE!!!

Its great to be an AUBURN TIGER!!!

I do love football...this past week was great..because I got to experience Auburn in its prime, the night we beat ALABAMA!!!

We went to Roanoke, AL to watch the Game, aka the redneck capital of the world, where my dad is from....
I will admit that the first half was a bit scary, but then we dominated in the second half, and that's what really counts..score-wise
our super-hero quarter back lead his team to victory 28-27!!

after the game we drove down to Toomer's corner and got game day shirts...

then here's the best part of the whole trip!! while standing in line for 1/2 hour, we learned a lot...including where and when they were bringing the players back. so... at ten thirty we were at the basketball arena forming a tiger walk with a bunch of other people, ready to meet and greet some players!

We got to high-five like the whole team (including Gene Chizik!) and ran screaming after a heavily guarded Cam Newton, who I got like a foot away from...:)

We got pictures with Onterio McCalebb, Darvin Adams, Michael Dyer and some other unidentifiable boys...

I can't wait for Saturday!!!
