Leslie de la Trinidad's shopping day!!

Well my high school has always been pretty cool, but this is probably the coolest thing we've ever done... Here's my preamble...For the past few weeks each grade was responsible for getting about 10 or 12 team leaders. Those team leaders recruited 4 other people. Each person in a group had to give 20 for a total of $100. There are 52 second graders who are underprivileged. The idea was that each team would get a child and take them to Walmart to go shopping for themselves and their families. They get $40 for themselves and $60 for their families...Preamble accomplished.

Well today was the day, we got together, someone said there was about 400 of us, and walked up to the primary school to get our child. We had just found out what our child's name was that morning, and our name-tag said "Team Leslie de la Trinidad"...who has a name like that?? ***side note, Trinidad is a country in the Caribbean and its original name meant "Land of the hummingbirds" this is what I found out when I Googled Trinidad in order to better understand our future little shopper***

My group of Kate, Sutton, Abdul for a little cultural flavor, and Gunnar anxiously awatied the meeting of our "little shopper". **please note that earlier the boys had been teasing Kate and I and saying that we were going to get the kid who was sick and didn't come to school, and were also saying that they were going to take the $100 and just buy stuff for themselves.**

Well we were greeted with a shy smile from this precious little girl...

and got to go and pick out all sorts of gifts for her 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and her mom and dad.

and wrap them up...

and decorate cookies!

and all around us the same thing was going on (but not exactly the same because their kids were definitely not as awesome as ours)!

We ended up with a huge bag of gifts wrapped (questionably)... and ready to go!

It was obviously pretty awesome
